Recently, in partnership with other Group companies, we completed the start-up of an advanced industrial automation system at a major European customer in the refinery sector.

From project to implementation

Our involvement began a year and a half ago, when we were called in to manage the automation component of a massive industrial plant.

Our approach was not limited to simply supplying technology and process automation, but embraced the entire project lifecycle: from the initial engineering phase, through an in-depth analysis of the customer's needs, to the definition of optimal technical configurations.

The challenge was to integrate and modernise pre-existing but outdated and unconnected systems to create a cohesive and efficient production ecosystem.

At the heart of the new system, we have implemented state-of-the-art hardware components (including newly developed Siemens solutions), perfectly interconnected with the customer's existing systems. This integration is a key strength, as it allows us to preserve previous investments by adding new advanced functionality.

Smart process optimisation 

The system we have developed links the different machines in the plant to maximise their overall efficiency. Through sophisticated algorithms, optimal parameters are calculated in real time to

- Reduce waiting times between processing stages - Optimise heating and cooling cycles - Dynamically modulate processes to minimise production time - Collect data, analyse it in an interconnected manner and return it in easy-to-understand graphics

These dynamic evaluations make it possible to speed up production while maintaining quality standards and significantly reducing energy wastage and the investment of operating time previously required by humans.

Complete traceability

One of the most significant aspects of the implemented system is complete product traceability. Each recipe, order or batch is recorded throughout the production cycle in the company's databases. These databases are in turn connected to the customer's MES (Manufacturing Execution System), allowing:

- Real-time monitoring of the processing status

- Immediate access to all production histories

- Detailed analysis of the quality and characteristics of each product

- Full certification of the entire production process
